To those who approach UCA Guadalupe:
If you have made it this far, you may be considering studying with us or wishing to get to know us better before making a decision. Let me tell you who we are and what kind of university we want to build.
Our motto, Gaudium de veritate (the joy of truth), comes from San Agustín. San Juan Pablo II recalls in Ex Corde Ecclesiae (From the Heart of the Church) that the Catholic university shares with all other universities this gaudium de veritate (the joy of truth): “the joy of seeking truth, discovering it, and communicating it in every field of knowledge.” These words express our mission. We want to seek truth rigorously, learn to recognize it, and place knowledge at the service of others. Ex Corde Ecclesiae (From the Heart of the Church), No. 1.

Universidad Católica Digital de Guadalupe is based in Toledo and bears the name of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. In 2021, the archbishop of Toledo recognized it as a Catholic university. Subsequently, the Spanish Episcopal Conference issued a favorable report on its Catholic identity. It is promoted by the Private Association of the Faithful “Gaudium de veritate (the joy of truth),” also based in Toledo, Spain.
We are a digital university in the age of neuroscience and artificial intelligence, inspired by a centuries-old university tradition. We organize each lesson into sessions that follow a clear sequence: posing a question, understanding the explanation, examining examples, formulating objections, practicing, and revisiting what has been learned until it becomes one’s own. Our synchronous and asynchronous model allows students to study from anywhere and organize their learning according to their availability. Content is offered in Spanish, English, and Chinese.
We also use artificial intelligence and openly explain what we use it for. It helps us prepare materials, translate content, propose activities, and provide support during study. Academic responsibility, however, continues to rest with people: faculty review the lessons, oversee assessment, and take responsibility for decisions affecting students. UCA Guadalupe has endorsed the Rome Call for AI Ethics, complies with applicable regulations, and publishes the principles it applies to the use of this technology.
The civil recognition of the University is currently being processed. Until this procedure is completed, the studies we offer lead to UCA Guadalupe’s own degrees and do not have official status within the Spanish university system. It is important that each student be aware of this circumstance before enrolling and be able to make an informed decision.
As president, our Statutes entrust me with safeguarding the Catholic identity of the University and fostering the communion of its academic community. This entails ensuring intellectually rigorous formation, providing personal attention to each student, and promoting an education oriented toward service to society. That is the responsibility I have undertaken.
